Antigonish Women's Centre & Sexual Assault Services

We strive to lower and remove barriers in society, as well as those that we have as an organization to be more inclusive and accessible to the diversity of people and communities who need our work the most.

Who we Are

The Antigonish Women’s Centre & Sexual Assault Services (also known as the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre & Sexual Assault Services Association or the “Women’s Centre”) is an independent, feminist, community-based organization. We are led by the experiences of diverse women, girls, Two-Spirit, trans and non-binary people towards an equitable and just society for all. While our work focuses on women, girls, Two-Spirit, trans and non-binary people and their families and communities, much of what we provide is for people of all genders.

We strive to lower and remove barriers in society, as well as those that we have as an organization to be more inclusive and accessible to the diversity of people and communities who need our work the most.

Where we are

We are guided by the Peace and Friendship Treaties of 1725 signed between the Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik Peoples and the British Crown that inform our relationships with one another and with the territory we are on. We are honoured to work on Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People, primarily in the counties of Antigonish and Guysborough. In these counties, we also recognize the historic African Nova Scotian rural settlements.

Our work spans regionally, provincially, nationally, and internationally to advocate for the women, girls, Two-Spirit, trans and non-binary people of
rural, eastern Nova Scotia, Canada.
