Who This
is For
Our immigrant support program coordinators offer services to immigrants, refugees, and their families living within Antigonish and Guysborough counties and can meet anywhere in these counties upon request.
What
we Do
- Settlement planning
Our immigrant support program coordinators identify and assess your needs, develop settlement plans with you to meet your short-term settlement and long-term integration goals, and support and counsel you in your plans. - Settlement navigation
Our immigrant support program coordinators know that settlement processes can be complex, confusing, and intimidating. They help by explaining the steps involved, providing translations, preparing documents, and filling out and submitting forms and applications with you. - Language support
Our immigrant support program coordinators register you for English language classes and in language evaluation programs. - Referrals to supportive agencies
Our immigrant support program coordinators connect you with other resources in the community and in the province to help you get the support you need. - Networking and social engagement support
Our immigrant support program coordinators organize activities to help you meet new people, increase your connection to the community, and learn about topics of interest. They offer weekly and monthly events to foster community and promote cultural integration as they navigate the process of building a new life in Canada. - Building community around newcomers
Our immigrant support program coordinators work with and provide education for groups, organizations, and workplaces to help newcomers’ settlement and integration in the community.
How we Work
Our immigrant support program coordinators are committed to making our communities diverse, inclusive, and welcoming, places where newcomers want to live and decide to stay. They provide personalized support to immigrants, refugees, and their families and respect the autonomy, confidentiality, and privacy of all people who use their services.
