April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a time to educate, raise awareness, and advocate for survivors of sexual violence. This month encourages communities to engage in conversations about prevention, consent, and support services, ensuring that survivors know they are not alone.

At AWRCSASA, we are committed to providing resources, advocacy, and therapeutic support to those affected by sexual violence. Our services include trauma-informed counseling, outreach programs, and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, which offers specialized emergency response and immediate care for victims and survivors of sexual assault. SANEs provide support in a confidential, non-judgmental way and serve individuals of all genders, 13 years of age and older, free of charge.

Our SANEs can provide the following, as decided upon by the individual:

● Medical assessments and forensic exams

● Storage of forensic evidence (for up to six months)

● Choices about forensic exams and reporting to police

● STI and pregnancy testing

● Expert testimonies in court

● Connections to community resources

● Information about sexual assault and violence

This vital service ensures compassionate, professional support for those in crisis. Join us this month in spreading awareness, supporting survivors, and working together to prevent sexual violence. For more information or support, reach out to our team—we’re here to help.
